Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: July 22, 2026

Effective Date: July 16, 2026 for accounts created on or after this date; August 15, 2026 for existing users

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of captionbolt.com and the CaptionBolt application (collectively, the "Service"), operated by CaptionBolt ("we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account, purchasing a plan, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

CaptionBolt is an AI-assisted short-form video finishing tool for content you already have. Depending on the feature and your plan, the Service may allow you to:

  • Generate, review, edit, and style captions and transcripts.
  • Use the core editor and all 308 caption styles.
  • Preserve the original framing for new caption projects and optionally resize video for common social formats.
  • Review and apply optional Trim, silence or filler cleanup, and manual cuts.
  • Add optional Covers, B-Roll, Logos, Progress Bars, and reusable Video Templates.
  • Generate editable titles, captions, descriptions, hashtags, and tags for social publishing.
  • Export MP4 and eligible TXT, SRT, ASS, or VTT files, subject to your plan and source quality.

CaptionBolt does not automatically publish or schedule content to social platforms. It is not a general-purpose multi-track editor and does not provide a full transition system or arbitrary editing canvas.

AI Viral Clips, AI Reframe, and AI Dubbing are not available for new projects. Successful historical results from removed product paths may remain available through read-only archive views for a limited period. Archive access does not restore creation, editing, retry, or reprocessing of those products.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

2.1 Age and Authority

You must be at least 13 and old enough under the law of your location to use the Service. If you have not reached the age of legal majority, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms and supervise your use.

If you use the Service for a company, client, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2.2 Account Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current account information.
  • Keep your credentials, passkeys, and two-factor authentication methods secure.
  • Accept responsibility for activity performed through your account.
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Use one account only for yourself or for the organization that authorized you.

You may not share, sell, or transfer account access in a way that bypasses plan, security, or usage restrictions.

2.3 Authentication Services

The Service may support email and password, magic links, passkeys, two-factor authentication, and Google Sign-In. If you use Google Sign-In, you authorize us to receive your basic Google profile information for account creation and authentication. Your use of Google services is also subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

3. Plans, Usage, Pricing, and Payment

3.1 Plans

The public plans are Free, Starter, Pro, and Max. All plans include the core editor and all 308 caption styles. Plans differ in included video minutes, maximum video duration and upload size, simultaneous processing capacity, watermark, export formats, output quality, queue priority, and other limits.

The current pricing page at captionbolt.com/pricing is the authoritative public description of current prices and plan allowances. If a pricing-page statement conflicts with old marketing content, the current pricing page controls.

3.2 Free Plan

The Free plan does not require a payment card. It includes all caption styles but may include a CaptionBolt watermark, lower usage limits, lower processing priority, and fewer export formats than paid plans.

Free and paid project media is subject to the storage and lifecycle practices described in our Privacy Policy. No plan includes a permanent media-backup guarantee or unlimited storage promise.

3.3 Subscriptions and Automatic Renewal

Paid subscriptions are offered on monthly or yearly billing intervals. Unless you cancel before renewal, your subscription automatically renews for the same interval at the then-applicable price, plus any taxes.

By starting a subscription, you authorize Stripe and CaptionBolt to charge your selected payment method for recurring fees, applicable taxes, and approved prorated plan changes.

3.4 Payment Processing

Stripe processes payments. By purchasing a plan, you also agree to Stripe's applicable legal terms. We do not store full payment card details.

You are responsible for providing a valid payment method and accurate billing information. Prices are shown in the currency stated at checkout. Your bank or payment provider may charge additional conversion or transaction fees.

3.5 Usage Limits

Plan usage is generally measured in video-processing minutes or equivalent credit-seconds. Some optional AI actions consume a stated amount of included usage. Limits reset according to your billing period, and unused allowances do not roll over unless we expressly state otherwise.

Each plan also limits how many jobs may be processed at the same time. A downgrade or subscription end does not cancel work already accepted, but new work may be blocked until your active work falls below the limit of your current plan.

You may not circumvent usage limits, create multiple accounts to evade limits, or manipulate job state to obtain unpaid processing.

3.6 Promotions

Discounts, regional offers, affiliate promotions, and coupon codes may have additional eligibility, expiration, and first-payment conditions shown when offered. Promotions have no cash value and may not be combined unless stated.

3.7 Price or Plan Changes

We may change prices or plan features prospectively. Changes to an existing paid subscription will take effect no earlier than permitted by applicable law and the notice we provide. Taxes, provider fees, currency effects, and promotional expiration may change the amount due independently of the base plan price.

4. Refunds

4.1 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

Paid plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee. You may request a refund within 30 days of the eligible payment. Refunds under this guarantee are available once per customer.

This guarantee is in addition to any mandatory refund, cooling-off, or cancellation rights that apply in your location.

4.2 Requesting a Refund

Email help@captionbolt.com from your account email address and identify the payment or subscription. If approved, we will initiate the refund to the original payment method. The time it takes to appear depends on Stripe, your bank, and the payment method.

4.3 Refund Limitations

After the 30-day period, payments are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly approved by us. We may deny repeated, abusive, fraudulent, or usage-limit-evasion refund requests.

5. Subscription Changes, Cancellation, and Failed Payments

5.1 Cancellation

You may cancel a subscription through the Stripe Customer Portal available from Billing settings. Unless stated otherwise at cancellation, access to paid features continues until the end of the current paid term, and the subscription will not renew.

Deleting your CaptionBolt account may cancel an active subscription and end Service access immediately. If you want to keep paid access through the end of a term, cancel the subscription first and wait until the term ends before deleting the account.

5.2 Upgrades and Lower Plans

Eligible upgrades take effect after successful payment and may be charged immediately using Stripe proration. If payment fails or requires additional action, the upgrade is not complete and the new entitlement is not granted.

To move to a lower plan, or from yearly to monthly billing, cancel the current subscription and select a new plan after the paid term ends unless the Service presents another approved option.

5.3 Failed Payments

Stripe may retry a failed recurring payment and ask you to update your payment method. If payment remains unpaid, we may suspend paid features, end the subscription, or move the account to the Free plan. We do not promise a separate media-retention period after payment failure.

6. Your Content

6.1 Ownership

As between you and CaptionBolt, you retain your rights in content you upload and in the project outputs you create, subject to third-party rights, applicable law, and these Terms. We do not claim ownership of your original videos, captions, transcripts, or exported videos.

6.2 License to Operate the Service

You grant CaptionBolt a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, copy, transmit, convert, transcribe, analyze, modify, render, and display your content only as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the features and outputs you request.
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and support the Service.
  • Use service providers described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Comply with law and enforce these Terms.

This license ends when the content is deleted from our active systems, except to the extent information remains in backups, operational storage lifecycles, legal records, or other permitted retention described in the Privacy Policy.

6.3 Your Responsibilities

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own the content or have all rights, licenses, permissions, and consents needed to upload and process it.
  • You have permission to process the image, voice, likeness, and personal information of people appearing in the content.
  • Your content and use of the Service do not violate law, contract, privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, or other rights.
  • You will review captions, AI suggestions, stock assets, and exports before publishing them.

The Service is not designed as a system of record for highly regulated information. Do not upload payment-card data, government identification records, protected health information, or other highly sensitive data unless you are legally authorized to do so and have determined the Service is appropriate for that use.

6.4 Content Restrictions

You may not upload, create, or distribute through the Service content that:

  • Is illegal or promotes illegal activity.
  • Exploits or endangers children, including child sexual abuse material.
  • Infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or contractual rights.
  • Contains malware, credential theft, or code intended to harm systems.
  • Facilitates fraud, impersonation, harassment, threats, or deceptive activity.
  • Is submitted without required consent or lawful authority.
  • Is intended to overload, disrupt, probe, or bypass Service security.

We may remove or restrict content and suspend accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these rules or comply with law.

6.5 AI Processing and Model Training

CaptionBolt does not use your uploaded content to train CaptionBolt-owned AI models. We use third-party AI services for speech recognition and optional text-generation features. Those providers process the inputs necessary to return the requested result under our agreements and their applicable data practices.

6.6 AI and Stock Outputs

AI-generated text may be inaccurate, incomplete, similar to results provided to others, or unsuitable for your intended use. You are responsible for reviewing it.

Pexels and other third-party stock assets remain subject to their licenses and attribution requirements. CaptionBolt does not transfer ownership of third-party assets or guarantee that every asset is suitable for every commercial, trademark, privacy, or publicity use.

7. Organizations

If organization features are available:

  • Owners and administrators may invite or remove members, assign roles, manage billing, and access shared workspace content.
  • Members may access content according to their role and the organization's settings.
  • The organization is responsible for its instructions, member permissions, and lawful use of shared content.
  • Leaving or being removed from an organization does not create an individual right to a refund of organization charges.

Organization availability may vary and is not guaranteed for every plan or account.

8. Acceptable Use

You may not:

  • Violate applicable law or another person's rights.
  • Gain or attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, media URLs, or data.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service except where law expressly permits it.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated access except through an interface we authorize.
  • Resell, sublicense, rent, or provide access to the Service itself without written permission.
  • Circumvent watermarks, billing, credits, file limits, concurrency limits, or security controls.
  • Interfere with Service availability, queues, storage, rendering, or other users.
  • Use the Service to develop or train a competing caption-style catalog, rendering system, or service through systematic extraction.

You may publish, monetize, and distribute your own finished videos, captions, transcripts, and subtitle files, subject to third-party rights and these Terms.

9. CaptionBolt Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, documentation, caption-style definitions, Cover templates, and rendering logic, is owned by CaptionBolt or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

You may use the available styles and templates to create outputs within the Service. You may not extract, copy, reproduce, or redistribute the underlying style definitions, template code, catalog data, or rendering logic.

If you provide feedback or suggestions, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use them without restriction or compensation.

10. Service Availability, Storage, and Changes

10.1 Availability

We aim to provide a reliable Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation. Processing may be delayed by queues, large files, third-party providers, maintenance, or events beyond our control.

10.2 Storage and Downloads

CaptionBolt is not a permanent backup or archival service. Project-list windows, media availability, and storage lifecycles may change or expire independently. Download outputs you want to keep and retain your original source files.

Removing a project from the Service may remove it from active views before every related media object, backup, or record is physically deleted. The Privacy Policy describes current retention and deletion practices.

10.3 Changes to Features

We may modify, replace, or discontinue features. When reasonably practicable, we will provide advance notice of a material reduction to a paid feature you are actively entitled to use. We do not guarantee continued availability of beta, preview, experimental, third-party, or archived features.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • Captions, transcripts, timestamps, headlines, summaries, B-Roll suggestions, Social posts, or other AI-assisted results are accurate or complete.
  • An export will meet every platform specification or remain accepted after a platform changes its rules.
  • Stock assets or AI outputs are unique, non-infringing, or suitable for your intended publication.
  • Use of the Service will produce views, engagement, revenue, or other business results.
  • The Service will be uninterrupted or that stored content will never be lost.

CaptionBolt does not provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Review important content with a qualified professional where appropriate.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CaptionBolt and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, business opportunity, content, or data, arising from or related to the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising from or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of:

  • The amount you paid CaptionBolt during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • USD $100.

These limitations do not exclude liability that cannot legally be limited, including applicable consumer rights.

13. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CaptionBolt and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from third-party claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable legal fees arising from:

  • Your content.
  • Your use or misuse of the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of law or another person's rights.

This section does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by CaptionBolt's own unlawful conduct.

14. Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

You may stop using the Service or delete your account through account settings. Account deletion may be irreversible and may immediately end access to projects and paid features.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create security or legal risk, fail to pay required fees, abuse the Service, or if continued access is prohibited by law.

Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue. We may act immediately for serious abuse, security threats, fraud, unlawful content, or legal requirements.

If we terminate a paid account for reasons unrelated to your violation, we may provide a prorated refund where appropriate or required by law. Data is handled after termination as described in the Privacy Policy.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the CaptionBolt operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that mandatory consumer-protection laws in your location continue to apply.

Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact help@captionbolt.com and attempt to resolve the dispute in good faith. If the dispute cannot be resolved, it may be brought before a court or tribunal that has lawful jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms requires you to give up a forum or remedy that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

16. Severability and No Waiver

If a provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Service, pricing, providers, risk, or law. We will update the "Last Updated" date and provide additional notice when required by law or when changes materially affect your rights.

Unless a different date is stated, updated Terms take effect when posted. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.
